Prerequisites

Students taking this course should be familiar with personal computers and the use of a keyboard and a mouse. This course assumes that students have completed one of the following courses or have equivalent experience:

  • VBUS 574 Computer Basics: Hardware and Software
  • VBUS 576 Computer Basics: Systems and Networking Essentials

Course Objectives

This course provides instruction in systems and networking essentials for taking the A+ certification test. CompTIA A+ certification validates foundation-level knowledge and skills necessary for a career in PC support. Training includes review and practice of upgrading, troubleshooting, and repair of computers; setting up home and small office networks; installation and familiarization of various Operating Systems; Applications, and Utilities.

At the end of this course, you will know more about:

  • Operating Systems
  • Networking Essentials

You will obtain the systems and networking knowledge to take the CompTIA A+ Certification Exams you will be well prepared to pass CompTIA’s (the Computing Technology Industry Association’s) A+ certification exam.

There are two book editions used in this class. The standard edition and deluxe edition.
